Chapter 18 verse 12
“The three-fold fruits of actions—pleasant, unpleasant, and mixed—accrue even after death to those who are attached to personal reward. But, for those who renounce the fruits of their actions, there are no such results in the here or hereafter.”
Those of us who perform action expecting a
particular fruit or result of those actions, we will either get something
pleasant, unpleasant or a mixture of both either right away in this lifetime or
future lifetime. This is the law of karma. However when actions are performed
without attachment or desire for results, then the action doesn’t leave any
imprint on the soul and there is no residue of that action in this life or any
other life. The residue of all actions are burnt at the altar of the Divine.
