Chapter 3 verse 20
“Janaka and others attained
perfection verily through action only; even with a view to protecting the
masses you should perform action”
King Janaka has been quoted by
our Ithihaas (history) as someone who was a self realized emperor. It is a great
example for society to encourage action without attachment since which is a
better example than an emperor who has to act every moment to take care of his
kingdom without any attachment to the result of the action. Krishna is
reiterating the point of doing action as a sacrifice to benefit the world at
large made by him in an earlier verse again to say that one should do righteous
action or cling on to dharma (that which protects) for world’s sake.
